Stella Maris: Our Lady, Star of the Sea

Feast Day: September 27
When I first heard Stella Maris, “Star of the Sea," I pictured standing on the shore under a sky full of stars. Turns out, that’s exactly the feeling this title carries: calm, steady, and full of hope.
For centuries, Christians (sailors included!) have called Mary "Star of the Sea" because she’s that steady light when life feels stormy. She doesn’t replace the destination—she points the way. And like every true star, she leads us to Jesus, the Light who saves.
I’ve held onto this title in seasons when I felt adrift. There’s comfort in knowing we have a tender Mother who prays for us and keeps a gentle watch by God’s grace. With her, we’re not lost—we’re guided and loved.
This title inspired a couple of peaceful pieces I made:
If you’re traveling far or just navigating a tough week, may Our Lady, Star of the Sea be your bright point and safe harbor—always guiding you closer to Christ.
